Equip Vulnerable and Orphaned Children (EVOC)
The Problem
The number of orphans and street children in Tanzania continues to
increase year after year with no end in sight. This is creating a
generation of frustrated, angry youth who become involved in crime,
drugs and indiscriminate sexual activity €“and thus a down ward spiral of
sin and despair.
This growing problem is caused, in large part, to poverty, childhood
pregnancies, and parents dying of HIV/AIDS and other diseases.
The Solution
Deliberate measures must be taken to address the critical needs of
these young people. To this end, New Life Gospel Community Church
initiated a project known as “Equip Vulnerable and Orphaned Children”
(EVOC). This is a faith based organization(FBO) within a New Life Gospel
Community Church aims to:
- Help orphans and street children overcome their miseries and suffering from drugs, promiscuity and crime.
- Help the kids to avoid exposure to the corruption of the world and transform their lives with a Biblical view of moral ethics.
- Preach the gospel holistically, both spiritually and physically, to strengthen the Church and the community, enabling them to function effectively and efficiently in building a strong foundation for the coming generation.
Today, New Life Gospel Community Church assists about 25 needy
orphans materially and spiritually. We began with seven children in 2000
and have grown EVOC slowly and steadily. We are grateful to God that
some have finished their primary education and are going on with their
education at secondary schools.
The Challenge: We Need Your Support
We have gone about as far as we can with the resources God has given
us. Because of poverty and life hardship of our members, we have failed
to keep up with the growing number of needy orphans. Our vision of
saving a generation needs your help now. Become a partner with us in
reaching out to these needy children by:
- Praying for this EVOC project
- Visiting the children and encouraging them to accept Jesus Christ.
- Sponsoring one or more children for food, clothing tuition and school supplies
- Buying mosquito nets to protect the children from malaria and other mosquito borne diseases
- Sponsoring the EVOC football team by buying balls and paying travel costs when invited to play other teams in distant places.

directs you to offer any kind of support please contact us through:

Youth – Abstinence and Behavior Change (Y-ABC)
Our church runs projects which focus primarily on youth and vulnerable
children with interventions and messages about positive behavior charge,
abstinence from drugs and sexual activity, delayed sexual debut and
marriage, being faithful, re-commitment and abolition of harmful
traditional practices such as female circumcision.
The project targets youth in the10-24 of age range. Our Mara region
has over 215,000 young men and 234,000 young women that need immediate
education. We use a variety of media for message dissemination on
behavior change such as TV, drama, radio programs, contests, youth to
youth, child to child, support groups and gardens for youth.
This project is funded from a variety of sources including friends
from within and outside Tanzania and the Adventist Development and
Relief Agency (ADRA). The 2006 the program on Change of Behavior was
conducted by bringing. multi-denominational youths together. This
project so far has reached 196 youths.
